Multigenerational gathering Muslims and supporters – warm & welcoming

Monthly gathering of folks in SLO County who are Muslim; have connections to Islam and non-Muslim community members who come as supportive neighbors and friends. It's a multi-generational gathering with children from around age 4 and up attending as well as adults of all ages. The atmosphere is so welcoming, as are the people. The community dinner displays that (spiritual) attitude that takes for granted that all are welcome: there is always a place for everyone at the table.

A benefit of attending if you are a devoted cook and/or a foodie is being able to sample homemade dishes originating from what we often call the Middle East; Persia (Iran), Egypt, Syria, Palestine/Israel. I had Koshari for the time — a favorite Egyptian dish made with pasta and featuring carmelized onions. It's a great opportunity to bring your favorite homemade dish to share. I found that the parents appreciated the sweet bread I baked, because the kids love it. If you're a store bought food person– no worries. Costco desserts and such are always on the table too.
