What does it mean to place Love at the center even when we disagree, feel hurt, get angry, or want to run away? In this in-person workshop, we will explore Nonviolent Communication as an embodied practice for living Unitarian Universalist values of interdependence, pluralism, justice, transformation, and generosity in real relationship. Through gentle somatic grounding, live demonstration, paired practice, and group reflection, we will practice naming what is true without collapsing into blame or shame, listening without rushing to fix, advise, defend, or disappear, taking responsibility for our own judgments and assumptions, and turning towards the ways violence and domination live in our own minds and bodies so that we can be authentically, compassionately, courageously present with ourselves and with each other.
