The immense need for any type of affordable housing is as at an all-time high, and there are very few options for any household with limited income, especially when discussing homeownership opportunities.  After several years of fundraising and planning, Habitat for Humanity SLO County is so proud to announce the start of construction for our Vine St Project in Paso Robles. This will consist of nine brand new single-family homes, which is HFHSLOCO’s largest build to date.  Each house will be two-story, three bedrooms. 1.5 baths, and just under 1100 square feet.  We are so excited to partner our deserving families, supporters, and volunteers on this life-changing experience.

With our San Luis Obispo ReStore reopening at a new location over a year and a half ago, it is also time to begin work on our North county in downtown Paso Robles.  We will soon start a building improvement project that is scheduled to span approximately three months at 844 9th St.  This entire effort has been a long time in the making, and we are just beyond thrilled to serve in this community again.

Lastly, we have launched a Playhouse Build Program, because we believe that everyone deserves a place to play.  Teams spend a day working together to decorate and assemble a fully functional children’s playhouse.  The playhouse is donated to a Habitat SLO partner family, local ReStore, or to a local family who is nominated by the community or sponsoring group. Playhouse Builds are hosted at your group’s preferred location.  This could be your office parking lot, a local park, or our ReStore parking lot.  Each playhouse build can accommodate up to 10 volunteers but can be tailored to fit your group’s preferences.  Habitat for Humanity SLO County is proud to introduce our Playhouse Build program, providing children with a space to play, create, and call their own.  When your group sponsors a Playhouse Build, the buy-in donation covers the foundations of the build day, including the cost of materials, transportation, staff and instruction.  Your donation also supports Habitat SLO’s mission.  Playhouse Build sponsorship opportunities start at $2,500.  Corporate participation in events like these is a great way to build a culture of social responsibility among staff and provide a unique team building experience.  A full day commitment (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) –  All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.  No prior construction experience is necessary!
