Central Coast Coalition for Inclusive Schools

August, 2026

The Central Coast Coalition for Inclusive Schools (CCC4IS) is an all-volunteer run program dedicated to creating safe, affirming, and inclusive school communities throughout San Luis Obispo County. The organization strives to celebrate diversity, advocate for social justice, and transform educational cultures by empowering youth, families, educators, and community organizations. Since 2014, CCC4IS has been committed to creating safe school communities in which all students are free to realize their true, full potential.

Although California has some of the nation’s strongest legal protections for LGBTQ+ students, those rights continue to face challenges. School districts across the state have considered policies that undermine protections for LGBTQ+ youth, including in San Luis Obispo County. Bullying and hate speech have increased, book bans have been proposed, attacks on transgender students’ participation in school sports have intensified. This past year a local school board member compared gender-affirming care to child abuse.

CCC4IS works to ensure that these efforts do not erode the rights and safety of local students. Volunteers attend school board meetings, monitor policy discussions, mobilize community members to speak in support of students, combat misinformation about LGBTQ+ people, and help hold school districts accountable to California law. The organization also serves as a trusted resource for families, helping them understand their children’s rights and connecting them with support when challenges arise.

As an entirely volunteer-run organization, CCC4IS relies on community generosity to continue this important work. Every donation—large or small—helps sustain advocacy, educational resources, family support, and volunteer efforts that ensure every student can learn in a safe, welcoming, and affirming school community.
