Since 1968 the Community Counseling Center (CCC) of San Luis Obispo County has operated as a mental health care safety net and preventative care provider of affordable, professional psychotherapy for economically disadvantaged residents.
Our mission “to build and support emotionally strong individuals, families, and community through confidential, affordable, and transformative clinical counseling, education, and advocacy” has endured for 56 years.
CCC offers four distinct psychotherapy programs:
- Sliding Scale Core Program: for the most underprivileged and uninsured
- CenCal Program: for those with CenCal/Medi-Cal insurance
- Student Mental Wellness Program: on-campus counseling partnerships with local K-12 Districts
- Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD): for Mothers and Fathers with children 0-5 (collaboration with Pregnancy and Parenting Support)
CCC has clinic locations in downtown San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, and also offers teletherapeutic services. In addition to our psychotherapy services, CCC is home to a premier training site for mental health clinicians. Each year CCC trains close to 50 pre-licensed therapists gathering clinical practice hours toward licensure. Annually, CCC serves over 2,000 clients from across the County and engages more than 70 clinical counselors to deliver mental health counseling services.
CCC operates in and around a mild to moderate scope of services, seeking to help clients at critical junctures of their life to foster psychological wellbeing, resiliency, and personal insight. Psychotherapy services have been proven to help prevent some of society’s most challenging issues (including but not limited to): suicide, psychiatric hospitalization, homelessness, and incarceration.
CCC collaborates with our local non-profits and government social service agencies to help link clients with relevant resources and referrals appropriate for their needs.Need: like so many non-profits, CCC will be losing significant government-based grant funding in the coming fiscal year. We value and welcome private donations and support to keep our agency strong and sustainable.
