PPCCC is an accredited affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and serves nearly 30,000 patients annually across San Luis Obispo (SLO), Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
Our SLO County Health Center provides pregnancy testing, STI screening and treatment, abortion care, contraceptives, vasectomies, menopausal care, breast and cervical cancer screening, and gender affirming hormone therapy. We support over 4,700 SLO patients annually, of which 80% are female, 15% identify as LGBTQ+, 50% are BIPOC, and 87% are below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
We work closely with our SLO County Educator and Community Organizer who provides age-appropriate and comprehensive sex education, host community events, and disseminates vital resources to community members. Additionally, they have built strong relationships with local grassroots organizations, leaders, and stakeholders to protect reproductive health care. Although we are grateful for the fruitful partnerships we have built in SLO County, we know there is still work to be done to ensure all residents, from San Miguel to Nipomo, have access to care.
PPCCC is currently facing a devastating federal defund, blocking our ability to bill Medicaid, which accounts for $17M of our $30M agency-wide budget. In SLO, 65% of our patients are covered by Medicaid-funded programs, including CenCal, Medi-Cal, and Family PACT. Thanks to limited stop-gap funding from the State of California and the generosity of donors like you, we have continued providing care to every patient, regardless of their income, immigration, or insurance status. At PPCCC, our promise is clear—to provide care, no matter what. Eloisa Chavez (she/her/ella), Director of Education at Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC)
