This Sunday, we welcome Richard Carsel as our guest-in-the-pulpit, offering reflections on hope through the lens of Jewish tradition. Together, we’ll give thanks for the gifts of pluralism and the interfaith relationships that invite us to grow in understanding, empathy, and reverence for the shared wisdom that connects us all.
Richard Carsel is a business and estate planning attorney who has practiced law in San Luis Obispo for over 55 years. He has been an Assistant Professor at Cal Poly where he taught all the law courses given by the university. He also served both as a Deputy District Attorney and as our County’s Public Defender.
Rich has been a two term President of both Congregation Beth David and Temple Ner Shalom [pronounced “Nair”] in San Luis Obispo. Currently he is a lay leader of Congregation Ohr Tzafon [pronounced “Oar Sah-phone”] in Atascadero. He has been a member of the San Luis Obispo Ministerial Association for 40 years and has served as its President.
