Worship Service

Sundays at 10:30am

The sanctuary is open for in-person worship on Sundays. We also provide access to worship beyond the walls of the sanctuary via Zoom.

Masks are optional for in-person services and are available as you enter.

May we move forward responsibly with compassion, patience, and understanding, remembering that we are all connected in mystery and miracle to the universe, to this community, and to each other.

We begin each of our services by acknowledging the devastating impact of colonialism in this country, understanding that all of us are located on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of Indigenous communities. We respect the history and culture of these communities, and all Native Americans as America’s First Peoples.

In the famous poem from Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken," he encounters two roads diverging, requiring him to make a decision about which he will choose. Today, we celebrate with the youth who participated in this program, not only diverging roads, but paths that cross and enrich our understanding of the world.

Our Minister
Rev. Rod Richards

“I am Rod Richards, proud and pleased to serve as minister of this congregation.” I say that most every Sunday in my Opening Words and it also holds true on the rest of the days of each week that has passed since I was first called to be minister here in 2012.

My wife, Hanje, and I moved here from Arizona, where I had served the Unitarian Universalist Church of Southeastern Arizona (now Sky Island UU Church) in Sierra Vista, AZ for over 8 years as their first minister. Previously, we lived in Minnesota, where our son, Jack, presently lives. I am honored to be serving currently as Vice President of the UU Ministers Association, working with and learning from esteemed and beloved colleagues.”

The Rev. Rod J. Richards (he/him/his) has been the minister of our congregation since 2012.

You can read some of his thoughts here.

You can listen to some of Rev. Rod’s prior sermons here.

The transcript of his sermon for the Flower Ceremony is here.

Rev. Rod does his own version of American Pie with Steve Kadin on piano.  Click here for the lyrics.

Soul Matters: Monthly Themes for Shared Ministry

The Soul Matters Sharing Circle brings together a network of Unitarian Universalist congregations who incorporate the same monthly themes (from September – June) so we can more easily share small group material, as well as worship, sermon, music and children’s religious education resources. Despite the distances between us, we are spiritually connected by the themes, traveling each month on the same journey.

Soul Matters materials for each month (Worship, RE, and Small Group Ministry resources) are available only to congregation members per our copyright agreement. Click here to log in.

Contact our administrator (office.uuslo@gmail.com) if you have questions.
