In this time that is so permeated by the forces of dehumanization and othering, what does it mean to live into the spiritual truths proclaimed by our Unitarian Universalist faith? How might we experience hope, when, as the song says, “hope is hard to find?” Our love for humanity and for all the complex life forms on this earth is so strong, and we are so deeply interconnected, of course we are afraid. But even in the most perilous of times, love persists. It can hold us and lead us onward.
Rev. Sarah Gibb Millspaugh is UUSLO’s primary contact on the regional staff of the Unitarian Universalist Association. A lifelong UU and with a background in congregational ministry, sexuality education, lifespan religious education, and justice work, Rev. Sarah recently celebrated her 20th anniversary of ordination.
